Tanka Dhakal is a journalist fellow at NIMJN. He is an investigative journalist based in Kathmandu, who worked in both radio and online media — most recently for, a Nepalese/English digital news outlet. Dhakal has done in-depth reports on child sexual abuse and children deprived of elementary school education and covered other sensitive topics such as dowry practices and menstrual cycle taboos. Dhakal also reported on the Rohingya refugees in Nepal and melting glaciers. He was an OCCRP Alfred Friendly Press Partners fellow, 2022, and did reporting with Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism. Dhakal has a dual bachelor's degree in Sociology and Rural Development, a Master's in Rural Development, and Post Graduate Diploma in Counseling Psychology.
