NIMJN Webinar: Safety of Journalists Reporting COVID-19

A registered nurse from New York who is also a COVID-19 survivor shared safety tips with Nepali journalists in May, 2020. 

Ms. Lhakpa Dolma Sherpa, a registered nurse at the Elmhurst Hospital, New York, and COVID-19 survivor spoke with journalists and health professionals via zoom on on May 19, 2020. 

Around 20 participants attended the webinar. In the webinar, Ms. Sherpa gave some tips on how she overcame COVID-19:

  • Drink plenty of hot water, added ginger, turmeric powder, and lemon;
  • Be positive, build self-strength, and enhance the level of will power to fight against COVID-19;
  • Connect with your family and friends; and,
  • Consume high quality immune building diets and maintain distance with others. 

Mr. Suresh Bidari, a local journalist who was COVID-19 positive shared his experience and the hospital scenario from his isolation ward in Birgunj. 

Ms. Sherpa suggested he be positive and maintain distance with other COVID-19 infected ones. 

The webinar was moderated by Mr. Rajneesh Bhandari, a global multimedia journalist and founder of NIMJN. 

NIMJN webinar aims to inform and educate journalists on their safety.
